Unusual divorce indictators

There are several risk factors that may make the odds of someone getting a divorce more likely. Some of these things are within a person’s control while others are not. California residents might like to know more about these indicators of divorce.

Those whose parents got divorced are more likely to get divorced for two reasons. First, watching one’s parents get divorced can shape a person’s perspective. Second, these children of divorce also have the same genes as their parents, and certain inherited personality traits can make divorce more likely too.

Divorce is more likely when a couple’s firstborn is a daughter. If a marriage is in trouble, something known as the female survival advantage might come into play. Basically, girls may be able to survive stressful pregnancies while boys cannot. This means the sex of the firstborn is not so much an indicator of divorce but a barometer of the health of a marriage. When a couple has a child matters too. Individuals who wait at least eight months after getting married are more likely to stay together than those who procreate sooner.

Money isn’t everything. This might be demonstrated by a study that found that the marriages of women whose weddings cost more than $20,000 were 3.5 times more likely to fail. Men and women who spent less than $1,000 on their ceremonies were least likely to get divorced.

Regardless of the reasons for a divorce, the process involves many family law matters to consider, including child custody, alimony and property division. If a couple can make compromises and get along, then mediation or negotiation might be a better alternative than litigation. This typically saves time and money. Whatever route one takes, an attorney’s assistance might be necessary.
